SMS Communications & Consent

How people opt in to text messages from Sidebar Benefit Advisors, what we send, and how to opt out at any time.

Who receives our text messages

Sidebar Benefit Advisors sends SMS text messages to two groups, and in both cases only after the recipient opts in:

  • Consumers who ask a licensed agent to follow up after submitting a request form on our website, and who check the optional text box on that form.
  • Licensed insurance agents on our platform who turn on operational alerts.

All of our messages are transactional or relationship-based. We do not send promotional blasts, and we do not buy or sell phone lists.

How consumers opt in

Opting in to texts is optional and never required. On the "Request a call from an agent" form at sidebarbenefits.com/callback, and on the request-a-callback form on our find-an-agent page, a consumer may check a single box that is unchecked by default. Submitting either form does not require the box; it controls SMS only. The checkbox reads:

“(Optional) Text me too. I agree to receive recurring automated text messages from Sidebar Benefit Advisors at the phone number above about the appointment or call I requested, for up to 12 months. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. Message and data rates may apply; message frequency varies. Reply STOP to cancel or HELP for help. I can change my permission preferences at any time by contacting Sidebar Benefit Advisors, and I provide this consent even if my number is listed on a Do Not Call registry.”

The opt-in, with a timestamp, is saved with the request. Consumers can stop at any time by replying STOP, and can change their permission preferences at any time by contacting Sidebar Benefit Advisors — by phone, through the preferences page, or by replying to any message. Providing consent applies even if the consumer's number is listed on a Do Not Call registry.

How agents opt in

Opting in is separate and optional, and is never required to use the platform. An agent can opt in at either of two points:

  • When accepting the Sidebar Health Platform Agreement, an agent may check a single box that is unchecked by default and separate from the agreement itself. Signing does not require it. The checkbox reads: “(Optional) Text me my shift links. I agree to receive automated text messages from Sidebar Health at the mobile number on my profile when it is time to check in, take my station photo and check out, and other alerts about my shifts, leads and account. Message frequency varies with my schedule. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Consent is not required to use the platform.”
  • In the agent portal, on the Stores page, a card titled "Get your check-in links by text" reads: “We'll text your phone a link when it's time to check in, take your station photo and check out. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out any time.” The agent taps "Text me my links" to opt in.
  • The opt-in is recorded on the agent's profile with a timestamp and the mobile number it was given for; a changed number requires a new opt-in. Agents can turn texts off at any time with the "Stop texting me" button on the Stores page or by replying STOP.

What messages consumers receive

After opting in, a consumer may receive text messages that include:

  • Follow-ups about the call they requested with a licensed agent.
  • A plan summary link an agent has shared with them.

Sample message:

“Sidebar Benefit Advisors: Jane Doe (NPN 1234567) shared a Medicare plan with you. Plan: Humana Gold Plus HMO. https://sidebarbenefits.com/s/abc123 Reply STOP to opt out.”

What messages agents receive

After opting in, an agent may receive operational text messages that include:

  • Shift links: a prompt to check in when a scheduled in-store shift starts, a prompt to take the station photo, and a prompt to check out when the shift ends. Each carries a link to the agent portal, where the agent confirms their location.
  • New-lead alerts: a lead has been assigned to the agent, with a link to claim it.
  • License-renewal, credential and account status reminders.

Sample message:

“Sidebar Health: your 10:00 AM shift at Walgreens #1234 is starting. Tap to check in and allow location when asked: https://sidebarhealth.com/agents/portal/stores Reply STOP to opt out.”

Message frequency, carrier charges, and your phone plan

Message frequency varies with the agent's shift schedule, lead volume and platform activity. An agent with a scheduled shift receives up to three texts for that shift. During Medicare Annual Enrollment (October 15 through December 7) and ACA Open Enrollment, frequency may increase.

Message and data rates may apply. Sidebar Benefit Advisors does not charge for the messages we send. Your wireless carrier's standard messaging rates apply. Contact your carrier if you have questions about your plan.

Opt out at any time — reply STOP

You can opt out of receiving SMS messages from us at any time. Reply STOP to any message you receive from us. You will receive one final confirmation message acknowledging your opt-out, and we will not send you further SMS messages.

To resume messages after replying STOP, reply START to the same number. A STOP reply stays in force until you do.

Get help — reply HELP
